My name is Alex Araujo and I'm an interdisciplinary designer living in Silicon Valley.
For the past 7 years, I have been helping eBay conceptualize and define new products and features on the buyer experience team for its millions of users worldwide. Even though I'm an individual contributor, I think my skills really shine when working alongside a tight-knit team or collaborating with cross-functional domains. I also believe that I'm at my best when doing conceptual exploration, but really love defining and bringing those concepts to life in a meaningful, scalable, and result-driven way for the business and end-users.
My experience in the design field for more than a decade goes from a graphic design and visual background – like Illustration, branding, and iconography – all the way to making user interfaces, interactive prototypes, and app features that I like to think help make people's lives a bit easier.
Before moving to the bay area I lived in a number of places that helped nurture my curiosity and developed my eye for design. In 2001 I graduated from CEUX Universidad in Mexico with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts and several specialties (Graphic design, visual arts, architecture, photography, and cinematography).
Some of my sources of inspiration include modern architecture, futuristic industrial design as well as Japanese and Scandinavian minimalism. Things I enjoy other than design are a good espresso, playing video games, trying out new design software, occasional photography, and playing with my Russian Blue cat "Queen" Shanti.
